About this story
Marisol Quintero has been playing Andres Beltran's voice in her Pontiac for weeks, his low instructions tucked between songs he recorded in a garage. Her husband is in Tampa until Monday. The shop on Eighth Street closes at noon. What starts as another stolen hour turns into a wet, explicit claiming on a mattress above the bays, and into the call she has been too careful to make.
